Our new FAXSWITCH device is one of the most sophisticated Line Sharing devices ever developed. It provides you with the ultimate in flexibility, in order to meet a wide range of customer applications. This device is designed to operate on an ordinary single telephone line, or on a PABX/Commander multi-line telephone system.

FAXSWITCH provides you with a choice of THREE completely different operating methods (or technologies), in order to automatically receive incoming fax calls, on an existing voice line. You can select whichever method you prefer to use with this device by changing 1 Switch, located on the underside of the unit.

The THREE methods provided are described below :

METHOD 1 - Auto Answer Faxswitch Operation

This mode is based on the traditional Faxswitch method, where this device will answer ALL incoming calls FIRST, briefly "listen" to this call for Fax Calling Tones (CNG Tones) and then connect the call to your Fax or Telephones. With this method, Fax calls are received automatically, without any of your telephones ringing. This method is also ideal for use with PABX,Commander and other Multi-Line Telephone systems

Note - This method will require all telephones on your line to be connected directly our device, so that it can ring them after the initial fax detection phase.

If you have only 1 telephone on your line, or if you are able to connect all other telephones direct to our unit with normal extension telephone cables, then you will be able to install this unit yourself.

If you have more than 1 telephone on your line and you are not able to provide direct connection of these additional telephones to our unit by using telephone extension cables, then this unit will need to be installed by a telephone technician. This is a quick and easy procedure for a telephone technician and full instructions are provided with this unit.

Technical installation will also be required for operation with PABX, Commander or other Multi-Line Telephone systems. This device CANNOT be connected DIRECT to a fully digital ISDN telephone lines that are now used with some PABX , Commander or other Multi-Line Telephone systems. If ISDN lines are used, FAXSWITCH should be connected to an analogue extension.

METHOD 2 - Voice Priority Line Sharing Operation

This method is TRANSPARENT in operation, which means that FAXSWITCH will not ANSWER the call. It operates with your telephone line in a unique manner and will not affect the operation of any of the other telephone devices that may be fitted to your line. It also means that your voice callers will never know that there is a Fax device or Line Sharer on the line.

Note - This method provides for easy, 5 minute, user installation. FAXSWITCH can be fitted direct to ANY telephone socket.

Note - This method of operation is the same as that used by our EASY-CONNECT device. A detailed description of this service is provided in the VOICE PRIORITY FAX SWITCH section of this Web Site.

METHOD 3 - Faxstream Duet Operation

This method is for those customers who wish to use the new Telstra FaxStream Duet service, where a new additional telephone number, specifically for use as your fax number, is added to your telephone line. This facility works in conjunction with the other modes, to allow Fax reception on your phone number as well as your Fax number.

Note - This mode provides for easy, 5 minute, user installation. FAXSWITCH can be fitted direct to ANY telephone socket.

Note - This method of operation is the same as that used by our DUET SWITCH device. A detailed description of this service is provided in the DUET SWITCHsection of this Web Site.

NOTE: Where a PABX or other Multi-Line telephone system is used with incoming ISDN telephone lines, FAXSWITCH will need to be connected to an analogue extension.

TELSTRA CALLING NUMBER DISPLAY

FAXSWITCH is completely compatible with the use of ADSL on the same telephone line. A Dip Switch setting is provided, which if enabled, will allow the Calling Number Display (CLI) information to be passed through to your CLI Reader device, before FAXSWITCH answers the call.

ADSL

FAXSWITCH is completely compatible with the use of ADSL on the same telephone line, PROVIDING A HIGH QUALITY CENTRAL ADSL FILTER IS USED. This filter should be connected between the LINE port of FAXSWITCH and the telephone socket that it is attached to.

Note - Basic ADSL filters as suplied for use with telephones ARE NOT ADEQUATE.

We recommend the use of the C10 BRAND CENTRAL ADSL FILTER. These filters can be ordered ON LINE, by telephone (ph 03 9752 1797) or can be purchased from your local TELSTRA RETAIL OUTLET.
