FAXSTREAM DUET - Service Description

This Telstra service provides for a second telephone number to be allocated to an existing telephone line, specifically for use as your separate fax number.

Then whenever a fax is sent to this number, the telephone exchange will generate a special ringing pattern on your line, different to that present for all other calls on your line.

FaxStream Duet is available on most telephone exchanges and is provided at a cost of $6.00 per month (excl GST). This results in a considerable saving over the $23.00 (excl GST)** per month associated with the use of a dedicated fax line.

DUET SWITCH - Product Description

DUET SWITCH will automatically detect this special ring pattern and answer the incoming call. It will then generate and output a normal ring pattern to your fax device which will cause it to answer. Once your fax device has answered, it will then connect with the incoming fax call and receive the transmission.

By using this method where incoming fax calls are answered first by DUET SWITCH and then a normal ring pattern is output to your fax device, we can guarantee that it will operate with ALL Fax and Fax/Modem devices. Basic products such as our FAXMATE, simply redirect the incoming FaxStream Duet ring to your Fax device and require it to answer the incoming call. However, some fax devices cannot answer the short ring bursts associated with FaxStream Duet.

DUET SWITCH also provides the following additional facilities :

• If you have been sharing your normal number with your Fax Machine in the past, then you can expect to continue to receive Fax Calls on your main number. DUET SWITCH will allow you to receive Fax calls that may be sent on your normal voice number.
• Will allow an Answering Machine that may be integrated with your fax device to take voice messages from your normal voice number.
• Incorporates a set of FOUR MICRO DIP SWITCHES, which will allow the DUET SWITCH to be specially configured for use with the Telstra Calling Number Display (CLI) service and for other common telephone line sharing applications.

DUET SWITCH is completely compatible with the use of the Telstra Calling Number Display (CLI) service on the same telephone line.
DUET SWITCH provides a Dip Switch, which if enabled, allows the Calling Number Display (CLI) service to pass through to your Reader Device, which takes place before the first FaxStream Duet ring.

ADSL

DUET SWITCH is completely compatible with the use of ADSL on the same telephone line.
